over the counter buying

I thought I would get this blog started with a current topic. It seems alot of Jewelers are buying gold and stones OTC. Am I right or is it just my perception?

    That’s correct, at least with us. When metals prices shot through the roof last year, we saw a marked increase in the number of customers asking where they could dispose of their old pieces. We began purchasing at that time and it has allowed us two additional revenue streams - one for scrap gold and a second for refurbished ‘pre-owned’ jewelry department.

    Additionally, we have plenty of replacement melee for our repair shop, purchased at lower prices than our regular sources.
